Cambridge Day: ShotSpotter Returns, at Least Temporarily

Cambridge Day reports that the Cambridge City Council voted to temporarily reactivate ShotSpotter, the gunshot-detection system used by the Cambridge Police Department for more than a decade before it was discontinued earlier this summer.

The 90-day reactivation follows renewed public discussion after the July 4 killing of Cambridge Department of Public Works employee Xavier Bautista. During that period, the city plans to convene a resident panel to consider the technology’s future.
